Offered at our Lynchburg location, the Comprehensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment (COSAT) program is a service that encompasses medication assisted treatment, individual therapy, group therapy, doctor and nursing care, and case coordination.
This service is a mandatory part of treatment for patients, yet the specific aspects that are incorporated into each patient’s treatment plan will be tailored to meet his or her specific needs.
Trained and qualified counselors lead the individual and group counseling sessions, of which are designed to provide the emotional support that patients need as they process through their compulsion to use opioids. Counseling sessions occur weekly and last for 30 minutes per session. While individual counseling occurs one-to-one between the patient and his or her counselor, group counseling occurs in a setting where individuals meet with a counselor, as well as with peers who are facing similar challenges. The topics covered in these weekly group sessions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Relapse prevention
Additionally, family therapy may be incorporated into a patient’s treatment plan on an as-needed basis, yet this is not mandatory.
Our physicians are responsible for providing patients with their physicals and with the prescriptions that are incorporated as part of their medication assisted treatment. Patients come in daily for their medication treatments.
Currently, Lynchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center does not accept insurance coverage for the COSAT program, so patients must be able to self-pay on a daily basis while receiving treatment.
